Biden Signs Bill: Extends Farm Aid for Nutrition Program

President Joe Biden signed a crucial stopgap funding bill on Thursday, ensuring the U.S. government remains operational.

This bill, which successfully passed through the House on Tuesday and the Senate on Wednesday, extends funding through next September for various farm programs and food assistance initiatives.

However, it notably provides only a few months of financing for a vital nutrition program aimed at supporting low-income mothers and their young children.

Additionally, the legislation includes a one-year extension of the 2018 farm bill, which had expired on September 30. This move temporarily averts a government shutdown, while funding key agricultural and nutritional programs, albeit some for shorter durations.
